A concept I've had floating around my head for quite a while. I couldn't figure out how to make it work until I remembered about one of my obscure creations named The Corduroy Ninja. ([link])
Have you ever noticed how anime heroes always pull that ridiculous stance after they kill someone, and they hold it for a moment regardless of the fact that they are surrounded by enemies? Well, I sort of exaggerated that. I also exaggerated a bunch of other stuff that bothers me about anime (huge hair, sword the size of a Buick (get it?), weird animal ears for no reason, really feminine hands, symbols around their head that mean nothing, lack of background except for occasional gradients, etc.)
I really don't like anime.

Haha wow, this is awesome. It's been a few years since I checked your stuff, and I still remember the corduroy ninja and laugh.

haha. Yeah. I keep trying to think of something else awesome to use the character in.

Haha.
That first frame made me laugh.
It IS funny how they spend the entire 5 minutes for their dance/ sing-along/ changing outfit sequence right before each fight (gives you enough time to flick through other channels to see if there's better things to watch).
I never understood why they transform into something more ridiculous than their original selves.
That head gear? was a nice touch. Looks like a belt.
And is that a cellphone on his sward?

That bit about flipping through channels is brilliant. I'm going to have to use that sometime in conversation. STOLEN!

You mean hanging from the handle of the sword? It's supposed to be one of those tree air fresheners for a car. [link]

Haha
OI we DO get air fresheners here.
I meant that grey thing on the blade of his sword.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I really don't like most anime for the reasons you mentioned above.

BUT I do think there are some brilliant anime series out there. The greatest of them all is "Fullmetal Alchemist." It's the first show that made me realize anime can be absolutely amazing, engrossing, visually breath-taking, intricate, heart-wrenching and unforgettable.

I highly recommend that anyone who is not into anime gives it a try.

Honestly I have never watched Full Metal Alchemist. I hear that it is really cool. I just can't bring myself to watch it. Now that I have a netflix account I may actually check out some of the episodes. Either that or.... pirate..... them.

Anime is quite annoying. I'm on the fence, I've enjoyed a few series - tested a lot of patience trying to find the cream of the crop - and found that it can be one of the best [most expressive and creatively dynamic] forms of storytelling; it can also be [far more commonly] a haven for cliches, redundancies, and abhorrent lack of artistic integrity. FMA is pretty good, but Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop [really stupid name, but artistically brilliant], and Samurai Champloo are better. You can easily get series through bittorrent at places like tokyotosho.com/org... i'd recommend NOT watching any show in English dub, as the US distribution companies do not at all take the medium seriously as an artform and hire bottom-of-the-barrel voice talent to mangle well-written scripts.

Bah, ha! The air freshener on the sword is just brilliant. :D And I love the idea of a corduroy ninja!

It's true what you say about anime, too. Glad someone else feels that way.
