This is my entry to the "Dark Shadows" "contest" that deviantArt is hosting. Though I am an American resident, I do not currently reside in America - so sadly my entry can never win.
If you want to see WAY more detail than necessary, please zoom in. It's like using a magnifying glass to analyze the pores and wrinkles of an actress that you once found attractive.
Thank you much! I was originally going to have a little word balloon until my wife pointed out the breath fog. I think that was an excellent suggestion!
Poor Depp's in too deep now --- "...So, she looks over to her husband, then sets it back down in her lap and says, 'Honey, this one's eating my popcorn.'"- Agent K ("Men in Black", 1997)
hahaha. Exactly! I sometimes wonder whether Tim Burton has some kind of dirt on him. That's the only explanation I can think of for that Mad Hatter role.
To be honest, upon seeing the movie, I actually liked him as the Mad Hatter- but seeing the design for the first time, I was like this:
Probably; maybe it's because most of his filmography is with Burton, so maybe he feels like Depp owes him (he's the godfather of Burton's children BTW) --- "...So, she looks over to her husband, then sets it back down in her lap and says, 'Honey, this one's eating my popcorn.'"- Agent K ("Men in Black", 1997)
I personally really didn't like that movie. I found the relationship between him and Alice a bit creepy, and it seemed like his accent was in a constant state of flux. It seemed strange that they tried to turn the hatter into some kind of tragic hero too. It made it so he lost a lot of that abstract spontaneous wackiness that he had in the original animated film. I know I'm a bit of a curmudgeon about that kind of stuff though. What was it that you liked about the character?
haha. That's funny. It does seem like Depp always leaves a really positive impression on whoever he works with. That seems like layers of godfatherism too.
