I had to procrastinate a bit today (or go insane), so I did a drawing of the Easter Island heads. I have always been fascinated by the Easter Island heads, and was talking to one of my supervisors about them the other day, which inspired me. I also wanted to play around with the stereoscopy some more as well, so voila.

This is a cross-view stereoscope so you get it to go 3D by crossing your eyes. A bit like the old Magic Eye books.

Now it's time to get back to work!

That's so super cool, at first I didn't get what the 3D in the title was referring to but then I read the description xD Ahh the old magic eye books. Awesome!

haha. Did you think I was just trying to use buzz words to get more attention? *Kidding

Did you get the 3D to work then? Awesome.

Impossible. I would need a billion eyes or a magic potion or at least a bottle of gin to get this to go 3D. I thought I'd reached a clearance-level with Satan that few other have surpassed, but clearly your witchcraft is leagues beyond my own designs. Love the colors. Do you get tired of me saying that?

haha. Can't get it to work? Try looking at it zoomed out. Apparently that helps some people. Did you ever get the Magic Eye posters to work?

It's too big to see the 3D effect by crossing my eyes. It needs to be about 50% the current size, at least for me. LOL I can only cross my eyes so much, and it only goes about half-way.

The thumbnail preview, on the other hand, I can make it work perfectly. :XD:

That's funny. It always seems to work differently for different people. My wife has to look at them at full screen to get the 3D effect to work.

I think if I sit farther away from my monitor I'd have better luck. My monitor is pretty big (23" 1920 x 1200). Still, the preview thumbnail works just fine like I said, and it looks awesome. :D

haha. Yeah. That might explain it. Your monitor is four inches bigger than mine. That would make quite a difference. You could try it on my blog too. It's about half of the size so it might work better for you - [link]

your illustration alone is great, but the third dimension makes it even better  the statues seem to be "floating" above the ground which seems a little illogical together with their shadows ;) still, a great piece!

Yeah. I still haven't mastered how to get those statues to appear grounded while also making them look 3D. I think I would have to do some sort of warp or perspective on them, but I still can't quite get that to work yet. Now I just sort of think of it like a stage design or shadow box. Things look a bit 3D, but not realistically 3D. haha. If that makes any sense?

Thanks for the comment! I always appreciate a good critique.
