Kill Da Toitles by WonderDookie Kill Da Toitles by WonderDookie
YES! Finally done! I've been working on this one for way too long. I told myself that I'd actually put some real effort into a drawing, and then went overboard.

Anyway, this is my versions of Bebop, Rocksteady, and Krang. Three of my absolute favorites in the Turtles universe. Not having any of them in any of the Turtles movies is one of the biggest crimes against humanity in recorded history. Tokka and Rahzar!?!? That even offended my sense of continuity when I was 10 years old.

Anyway, I wanted to give this a good 80's/Early 90's feel. The golden age of the Turtles. Hopefully I succeeded.

EDIT: Took out the background and fixed the shading, to keep it in the same tone as the other turtles characters drawings.

Apparantly I'm the only one who thinks Bebop and Rocksteady are bit overrated. Still, nice drawing.

They were a bit overrated when you actually watch the cartoons (I can't actually watch the old cartoon. It's painful), but the imagination that they put into the designs of the action figures is pretty unsurpassed. Especially when you compare it to the uninspired crap that they sell nowadays. There aren't all of the little details that really enable children to use their imaginations. The newer designs are so boring.

When you put it like that, I understand. The designs on B&R are pretty nice. Give the characters a different personality and they might have kicked ass. What do you mean when you say newer designs?

In the 2003 cartoons. I just mean the designs of the characters in general. That's another reason I can't forgive the 2003 series... no Bebop and Rocksteady. haha.

That to me seems like a very small thing to worry about. I thought the writing, characterization, animation, action, and visual storytelling made up for it.

Ah.. See, you're talking to someone who spent years redesigning the Ninja Turtles characters. Obviously their designs are a big part of the appeal for me.

Actually, while I do agree that the designs for the turtles, April, and Casey were pretty bland, not all of the characters were boring to look at. Here are a few examples:

Here's one of Baxter's many robot forms.

Here's the Underground Monsters

Here's Gennosuke, a character from the Usagi Yojimbo comics

Can't forget the Utroms

And here's Nanobot, my favorite original character of the series.

(He's actually able to tranform into different forms depending on what machine he consumes, so he has various different looks)

And I think they're version of the turtle van looks much more badass.

See, I like the Nanobot character. That looks pretty awesome, but the rest of the designs still look a bit bland to me. Like the Utroms with the small legs just look like the cut corners to make the animation easier. It doesn't seem to have quite the same creative spark or sense of humor as something like this - [link] or [link]
