Riddick by WonderDookie Riddick by WonderDookie
This is my entry for the Riddick fan art contest.

I just found out about this film a few days ago, but am definitely a fan of the previous two. David Twohy consistently makes cool flicks! For some reason I always assumed his was German though. I just found out today that he is from LA.

I decided to try something a little different with this one; play around with my cut-out style shapes, but with high contrast. I quite enjoy the effect. I'll have to try it with some more work in the future. I was probably a bit influenced by Mignola as well (considering I spent yesterday afternoon reading Lobster Johnson comics).

Looks great, Dan! I can see some Mignola influence, but this piece is very much true to your style. Good luck for the contest!

Thanks Carla! That's pretty much what I was going for. Something with high contrast, but still distinct enough not to be another Mignola rip-off.

Thanks dude. Glad you dig it. I definitely think I was inspired by Mignola (The Hellboy guy). I had been reading another of his comic series for the afternoon. When I came up with the concept of doing the drawing in high contrast, it was inevitable.
